Summer is in full swing in Lincoln Square. Here is a list of upcoming events and opportunities to get involved:
June 20th, 10 am – Mulching workday – Help beautify the park and help add mulch to the Nature Play Area. Meet us in the Nature Play Area.
June 24th, 5 pm – Toddler, Tunes, and Turtles – Join us for some nature-inspired music for the young ones. This popular children’s program features a musical performance from Old Town School of Folk Music from 6:15 – 7 pm. See you at the Gazebo!
June 27th, 10 am – Loose-Parts-a-Palooza – Looking to help replenish the natural play elements at Welles. Grab a clipper or saw (provided) and help us break down fallen branches into new toys for the Nature Play Area. This children’s activity will take place between the tennis courts and the nature area.
June 28th, 5 – 8 pm – Bike-a-Palooza – Test ride e-Bikes, learn tips on safe city riding from the Chicago SAFE Ambassadors, and get a bike-safety check from Curbside Bikes.
June 30th, 6:30 pm – Miles Davis Birthday Centennial Celebration with the Ernest Dawkins’ Live the Spirit Jazz Residency. *
July 7, 6:30 pm – Porchlight Music Theater – Hits and beloved songs from Broadway and Hollywood musicals. Sponsored by Mr. Bill Bergfalk. *
July 10, 8:45 pm – Arco – Movies in the Parks – Join us for this award-winning French animated film. Learn more.
July 14, 6:30 pm – She’s Crafty – Shake your rump to an intergalactic all-female Beastie Boys tribute. *
July 21, 6:30 pm – The Astronomer – Electro-acoustic folk pop to enjoy the summer vibes. *
July 28, 6:30 pm – Brendan Bulger, Paddy Homan, Jimmy Keane, and Jim Dewan – Irish traditional music by a super-group of Chicago’s Irish music players. *
August 4, 6:30 pm – Greasy Gravy – Trio Matt Hendricks, Rick Sherry, and Jeff Parker playing acoustic blues, ragtime, jazz, and originals. *
August 11, 6:30 pm – Laura Doherty & the Heartbeats – Original folk-pop music for families and kids of all ages. *
August 17, 5 – 7 pm – Laser Legends Arena – Come join in on the fun with a series of laser tag games including Free-For-All and Team V Team. For teens aged 13 – 18 years old. Register here.
August 18, 6:30 pm – Sunshine Boys – Highly melodic pop rock gems by a star trio: Dag Juhlin, Jackie Schimmel, and Gerald Dowd. *
August 25 – Rain Date for concert series.
*Indicates this is a performance of the Welles Park Advisory Council’s annual Gazebo Concert Series supported by the Park Advisory Council, the Welles Park Parents Association, and YOU! (Click here to donate to Welles PAC) All performances are weather-permitting and you can call the park fieldhouse if you have any questions. If a performance is cancelled due to weather we will do our best to reschedule on our rain date of August 25th.
